MEET IRVINE'S JING SUN
Jing embodies the spirit of the American Dream.
Jing Sun serves as Chair of the Irvine Community Services Commission, where he has been a voice for improving park quality, expanding community facilities, enhancing recreational programs, and allocating HUD grants to benefit low and moderate-income residents. His efforts have been focused on ensuring that all residents enjoy a high quality of life, with access to excellent parks and community services.
Jing moved to Irvine as an MBA student at The Paul Merage School of Business at UCI after earning a Bachelor of Science in Math from Peking University in China and working briefly in Germany and Argentina. He has called Irvine home for over a decade, raising his two daughters here with his wife, all while deeply engaging with the city’s diverse community through activities such as volunteering at IUSD schools, an intercultural soccer club, and a cultural festival gala. Jing also leads a parents’ book club and does outreach for community justice initiatives.
Jing has run seven marathons, but now he’s running for his community. On the Irvine City Council, Jing aims to continue his service, making sure that everyone can achieve their slice of the American Dream here in Irvine. His policies will ensure balanced growth of the city to meet the needs of residents from New Irvine and old Irvine, promoting the development of affordable housing while maintaining the community’s high standards of living and making the City of Irvine a leader in sustainability and innovation to fight climate change. Jing's vision for Irvine is a city that continues to thrive while offering opportunities for all its residents, ensuring that future generations can also achieve their dreams in this vibrant community.
